Commentary

It was cold today, 3C feels like 0C.
Fortunately I was walking downwind so didn’t experience any windchill.
I was wearing 2 pairs of tights with thermal ones underneath and 3 top layers
and only felt slightly hot when the sun came out, which wasn’t for long.
I didn’t feel cold at any time except walking from Elephant & Castle rail station to Elephant & Castle tube station when I felt very cold.

The Thameslink service was fairly dire due to problems between Blackfriars and St Pancras with a 30 minute delay so I gave up and got off at Elephant & Castle.
I need to research the quickest way between the rail and tube stations as I think I took the longest route and I might be making the same connection on some future walks.

At one point there was a small amount of mud which shows that 70% worn
Gel Nimbus 26 shoes are useless on a slippery surface. However when 99.5% of the route is pavement it’s not worthwhile wearing trail shoes, just slow down and avoid falling over.

Today was the first time I’ve seen an electricity pylon that was also a cellular phone tower.

There is a Capital Ring walking trail sign near Wandsworth Common station. It shows 25 miles to the Woolwich Foot tunnel which at first glance seems wrong. The direct route according to Google Maps is 11 miles. It is in fact correct because the Captial Ring deviates a lot from the shortest route.
